Reverse Advent Calendar
This year Hull Self Store are supporting The Trussell Trust, the UK’s biggest provider of food banks by creating our own Reverse Advent Calendar within our offices on Therm Road, Cleveland Street Hull.
“Food poverty is a very real issue in the UK so a reverse advent calendar is a fun way to get friends, family and colleagues to do something about it,”
Chief executive of The Trussell Trust, Emma Revie, stated “Christmas can really be such a challenging time when you are facing poverty and hunger, we are really grateful for any extra donations that are made thanks to reverse advent calendars.”
The Trussell Trust, which has 428 food banks across the UK, emphasised the value of beginning calendars early on and making sure that parcels are dropped off by early December. This is then less pressure on volunteers, giving them time to arrange, process and distribute emergency supplies.
It is estimated that 216,000 food items were donated in December last year due to the #FoodBankAdvent campaign,
We will be donating our items received to the Hull Food Bank East on Savoy Road, Hull.
Therefore if any of our clients old or new would like to help Hull Self Store support The Trussell Trust and contribute towards our collection to take down to the local food bank that would be fantastic.
